Reverend Dr. Jeremiah Wright - Part 2

In a post i wrote on Monday , i talked about a video i saw of a sermon given by Reverend Wright in which he practically declared that America had somehow gotten what it deserved on 9-11-01 . One example he used to back that theory was the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima with atomic bombs . This event in his opinion and in the thoughts of several others is supposed to prove what an evil country America is , and brought war and untold misery to millions . This is revisionist history , and like anyone who uses it to make an historical or political point knows that not a lot of research is done and anything that doesn't fit there world view is conveniently omitted . The use of atomic weapons on Japan in 1945 was a Little more complex than what Rev. Wright and those revisionist historians would have you believe . First of all by August 1945 the Japanese Imperial Armed Forces were practically non-existent . Emperor Hirohito had called for all remaining military units to fight to the death to protect the homeland . At the same time he also called for all able bodied civilians to take up arms and defend the nation . The United States army high command estimated that an invasion of the Japanese islands would cost the lives of as many as 100,000 troops . The cost in civilian lives was estimated to be somewhere between 250,000 to 300,000 killed . However by that time the atomic bomb had already been developed at Los Alamo's and tested at White Sands New Mexico . In an attempt to avoid those casualty figures and bring a quick end to WW2 , President Truman sent a message to Emperor Hirohito and the Japanese high command that America had a new devastating weapon and would use it if Japan didn't surrender . Twice the ultimatum was given and was ignored ,and President Truman gave the order . Now for those of you who still think America is an evil place for doing this , here's something for your consideration . Between Dec.1937 and March 1938 the Japanese army had surrounded and sacked the Chinese capital of Nan king . In those four months the Japanese army killed 369,366 civilians and prisoners of war and raped 80,000 women & young girls . So when people like Rev. Wright simplifies this pivotal moment in history to make a political point , it shows just how truly uneducated these people really are .
